How does Cam to Scan work?
Optimizing an image with Cam to Scan takes three steps:
- Define outline: Setting the shape of the object that is to be straightened is ony a matter of a few mouse clicks.
- Straighten: The object is straightened to its original rectangular shape.
- Adjust brightness: In this step, the image can be brightened or darkened.
How can I straighten an image, whose size I do not know?
Cam to Scan can determine the size automatically. To do so, select "unknown" for the format upon straightening the image.
How do I obtain the best results?
- The object should be as flat as possible - avoid irregularities like curled edges or paper that is billowy from moisture.
- Take care for the lighting to be as even as possible.
- Avoid strong distortions.
- When taking a photo of the object, make sure that it is completely (i.e. its entire shape) visible on the image.
- The object should fill out the photo as much as possible.
- Avoid photographic mistakes like blur, under-exposure or noise.
- The resolution of the photo should be at least 3 megapixels.
Is there a Cam to Scan version for Mac OS or Linux?
The Cam to Scan package contains an installer for Mac OS X and a platform-independent Java-based installer, e.g. for Linux.
Does Cam to Scan run on Windows Vista?
Yes. At the development of Cam to Scan, compatibility to all common operating system is a primary concern.
Can I save my processed photos as a PDF file?
You may print the photo to a PDF file using an additional tool like Free PDF (which is available free of charge).
Please consider that for technical reasons output on Windows can only be done in portrait mode.
